To support its growth in Belgium (+ soon abroad) and strengthen its teams, Weerts Supply Chain is implementing a Management Trainee program designed to identify, train and develop young talent wishing to progress to positions of responsibility within logistics operations, site management, project management or engineering.

Your mission

As a Management Trainee, you will progress through successive assignments in various operational (logistics and transport) and strategic activities over a period of 12 to 24 months. This will enable you to develop an in-depth understanding of logistics activities while being guided towards a position of responsibility within logistics operations, site management, project management or engineering.

Main responsibilities:

  1. On-the-job training and operational immersion
  • Be present in the field in order to gain a practical understanding of logistics operations (warehousing, picking, order preparation, flows, transport, technology).
  • Actively participate in daily logistics operations alongside the teams.
  • Apply and integrate procedures, safety rules and performance standards.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of operational processes, continuous improvement projects and technology enabling efficient execution and monitoring.
  1. Management and leadership
  • Gradually take on responsibilities in supervising operational teams.
  • Develop leadership, decision-making and priority management skills in an operational environment.
  • Adopt a hands-on management style, maintaining direct contact with field staff.
  • Contribute to team engagement, daily communication and performance monitoring.
  • Understand and contribute to enhancing customer partnerships
  1. Continuous improvement and operational performance
  • Identify opportunities for improving processes, flows and work organisation based on field experience.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in terms of productivity, quality, safety and customer service.
  • Understand the impact of technology, AI and automation, both for physical and administrative flows. Participate in leveraging technology to enhance execution.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at operational excellence and supply chain optimisation.
  1. Cross-functional coordination and global vision of logistics flows
  • Work closely with the transport, planning and support teams.
  • Develop a global and coherent vision of logistics activities, from field execution to operational management.
  • Integrate business, customer and operational issues into decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate (bachelor’s or master’s degree) or professional with a maximum of two years’ experience with academic background in fields such as engineering, economics, science-oriented studies, management or supply chain.
  • Strong analytical and results-oriented mindset with the ability to approach problems from different perspectives and challenge existing ways of working.
  • Natural aptitude for leadership through academic, professional, extracurricular or personal activities.
  • Professional use of at least two of the following three languages: French, Dutch and English.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to learn.
  • Adaptability, sense of responsibility and initiative.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and mobility according to operational needs.
